What Services Does Canine Pawsitive Touch Offer?

I will come to you.

working on GoliathSessions are normally provided in your home, or if allowed, a facility where your dog is being boarded.  If you prefer, the sesson can also be done in my home.  Canine Pawsitive Touch has seen that the majority of animals are most relaxed in their own environment, which speeds recovery from injury or surgery.  There is no better plan than their own home for them to receive the care they need.  If allowed by your boarding facility, we can make arrangement to see your dog during their stay, helping them feel more calm and reassured.

Are There Different Types of Massage?

Massage is a very special type of touch that results in the manipulation of tissues that can be used to help dogs relax and reduce anxiety.  It also helps condition the canine athlete, by increasing flexibility and range of motion.

Each massage session combines the healing energy of Reiki with the massage.  Reiki is a Japanese energy healing system.  It is non-invasive and gentle.  It causes no stress, discomfort or pain, yet heals very powerfully.Jackie working on Dolce2

Massage is an important element to your dog's complete well-being and easily compliments other forms of health care.  Massage sessions are an application of hands on techniques used to restore and/or maintain your dog's physical and emotional health.

While the overall aspect is basically the same, different combinations of strokes and passive and active stretch are used to achieve various goals.  Some relieve muscle aches and strains, others stimulate, while still others encourage relaxation.  Below are some examples of the goals of massage.

Cold Laser may be incorporated with massage and Reiki unless otherwise contraindicated.  Cold laser therapy is noninvasive, using light to stimulate cell regernation; and increase blood circulation.

  • Wellness/General/Calming Massage.  Routine massage is designed to maintain your dog's overall well-being.  It also helps the dogs become more accepting of visits to the vet, groom and kennel.
  • Massage Before or After Surgery.  Massage helps reduce pain, speeds the healing process and helps release toxins from the body.
  • Sports/Athletic Massage.  Sports/Athletic Massage is for the athlete in all dogs.  Your dog need not actively participate in an organized contest to be considered an athlete.  Your dog may be a working athlete, with a career in service or rescue.  He may be a therapy dog or work with the police in drug or bomb detection.  Or he just may be a star recreational athlete devoting his energy to the backyard and his family.  For these dogs, massage invigorates and warms muscles preventing injury.  It energizes the formal athlete and soothes sore muscles after exertion.
  • Massage for Seniors.  Massage for these beloved, long-time friends eases stiffness, soothes sore joints and relaxes tense muscles.  It also helps preserve the muscles, preventing muscle atrophy.  It works on the whole dog, their body, mind and spirit.  The combination of Reiki and massage is tremendously soothing and comforting for companions nearing death and getting ready to cross the Rainbow Bridge.
